2016 CARLA FENDI AWARD
TO ANTONIO PAPPANO
On the final day of Spoleto59 Festival dei Due Mondi, the Carla Fendi Award was assigned to Maestro Antonio Pappano. At the end of Cangianze. L’inganno del Barocco — directed by Quirino Conti — the award was presented to Sir Anthony Pappano by Maestro Roberto González Monjas, first violin of the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia.
An extract from the motivational letter reads: “For bringing a new audience and an entire new generation to the experience of Beauty; for revealing, within tradition, a path that is different, unexpected, and astonishing.”
