2015 CARLA FENDI AWARD
TO PAOLO SORRENTINO
The fourth edition of the Carla Fendi Award took place at the Caio Melisso Carla Fendi Theatre. The sculptural planisphere created each year by Maestro Sandro Chia for the Foundation was awarded to Academy Award-winning director Paolo Sorrentino.
“Paolo Sorrentino gave back to cinema the grandeur of a genre nearly forgotten — embracing oxymoron, contradiction, the wondrous, the perfectly grotesque, and bringing Italian filmmaking back in line with its highest international achievements. Always original, incomparable, capable of narrating a beauty that is unusual, fractured, and unpredictable.” In light of this, Carla Fendi wished to honor one of the most original and creative directors in contemporary cinema.
