NATIONAL ROMAN MUSEUM
Through the exhibition Variabile Altemps by Gabriele Gianni, the Carla Fendi Foundation established a collaboration with the National Roman Museum, which made the digital platform of its ancient sculpture collections available to the artist. To create the four video installations exhibited at Palazzo Altemps, Gianni developed analytical tools to identify the golden ratio in the proportions of faces, poses, and material characteristics. Based on these parameters, he created two generative artificial intelligence tools: a reconstructive model for the hypotethical restoration of missing facial features and a deconstructive model for the simulation of sculptural fragmentation. These tools are now available to archaeologists at the National Roman Museum as support for the study of the Museum’s sculptural collection. The collaboration highlights the connection between art and science that is central to many of the Foundation’s projects.
